PUTTER FITTING -- in progress

Among the major reasons most golfers have difficulty in putting are problems with: controlling the putter face at impact the ball, distance control/impact ball speed, optimum launch angle of the ball off the turf, and minimizing post-impact skidding of the ball to the point of achieving true roll

Finding the optimum length and loft when the center of the sole lies flat on the ground at address is a major goal in putter fitting. It’s an essential element in having a repeatable stroke along the intended line of putt and it helps with distance control. An effective posture position at address is often a major issue, but having optimal putter specifications makes posture control easier to achieve.

Having the optiomal lie angle of the putter for you address position is a frequent problem. If the heel or toe of your putter is elevated at address, the ball will go offline at the beginning of your putt the ball unless you make a compensation in technique that will be difficult to repeat consistently.

If the putter face loft is too high, the ball will lift and skid excessively before starting to roll thereby affecting how far the ball travels and how it reacts to the putting surface (translation: loss of accuracy). To score low consistently, a properly fit putter that gets the ball rolling smoothly right after impact is absolutely essential.
